About Chavaughn
Registered Psychologist | Hamilton, New Zealand

My Background
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of the Western Cape (2012) and a Master's degree in Clinical and Community Psychology from Stellenbosch University (2016). I completed a range of clinical rotations during my internship and fulfilled my Community Service year in a correctional setting. Over the years I've worked in diverse contexts including disability units, therapeutic wards, forensic environments and correctional facilities, providing both long-term individual therapy and group-based interventions.
My Approach
My foundation is in Psychodynamic Therapy, which focuses on how past experiences shape your current thoughts, emotions, and coping strategies. But I don't take a one-size-fits-all approach — I draw from a variety of evidence-based therapies because I believe different approaches work for different people. At the heart of my practice is empathy. I aim to create a safe, nurturing and non-judgmental space where you feel truly heard. Therapy is a process of drawing from different tools and perspectives to support your well-being, build resilience, and help you move forward with clarity and self-compassion.
