Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to some common questions about therapy and working together
Your Questions Answered
Are my sessions private and safe?
Yes, all sessions are completely confidential. I won't share any details about you or your sessions with anyone. However, as a registered Psychologist I'm ethically and legally required to take action if there's a serious risk of harm to you or someone else.
What does Telepsychology involve?
I offer online sessions via a secure video platform. Many clients find online therapy just as meaningful and effective as in-person sessions. All you need is a stable internet connection and a private space. I'll send you a link which will direct you to an online waiting room — you simply add your name and wait for the session to begin.
What happens to my notes?
All session notes and reports are stored securely on my password-protected device and kept confidential. They will be safely destroyed after 10 years. Any third party requests require your written consent, unless court ordered.
How can I get in touch?
You can reach me by text, email or phone. I aim to respond within 48 hours — please be patient and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Can you prescribe medication?
As a Psychologist I'm not able to prescribe medication. However if I think medication could be helpful I can provide referrals to psychiatrists or other medical professionals who can support you with that.
Does the work end after each session?
Not always. Some sessions may include small tasks or homework to try between appointments. These reinforce what we work on in therapy and make the process more effective. If you find it difficult to complete these tasks we'll talk about it and adjust the approach — the goal is always to support you in a way that works best.
What can I expect from my first session?
Our first one or two sessions will focus on getting to know you and your story. We'll clarify your reasons for coming and start setting some goals together. Starting therapy can feel daunting, especially for the first time — that's completely normal. Part of our time will be spent answering your questions and helping you feel comfortable. If you'd like, we can also arrange a brief phone chat before your first session at no extra cost.
